India Reports Slight Surge, Reports More Than 16k COVID-19 Cases

After recent reports of a new strain of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19, India witnessed a slight surge in everyday cases. 

In the past 24 hours, India reported 16,738 new cases of Novel Coronavirus.   In addition, 138 people died of COVID-19 and 11,799 recoveries in the past 24 hours.  The new cases of the Novel Coronavirus was confirmed by the Union Health Minister and the updated data is available on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.) 

The Union Health Ministry confirmed that the country is currently witnessing a resurgence of the pandemic, and a number of states, especially Maharashtra and Kerala, have been flagged as areas of concern.  With the new cases, India adds 16,738 fresh cases to its tally, taking total cases to 11,046,914. 

With this, the death toll reaches 156,705, recovery cases at 1,07,38,501 cases and active cases is above 1.50 lakh cases with 1,51,708 cases.  India currently has 1.42 % fatality rate, 1.33 % active caseload and 97.25 % recovery rate.
