India’s COVID-19 Single Day Spike Reduces, 55,342 New Cases Reported In Past 24 Hours

On the 13th of October, India witnesses decline in the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases with 55,342.

In the past 24 hours, India recorded 55,342 new cases and 706 deaths.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) the total positive COVID-19 cases reached 71,75,88, active cases stood at 8,38,729, 62,27,296 recovered/discharged cases and 1,09,856 deceased cases till date.

This is the first time in the past two months, India recorded cases below 60,000.

The MohHFW said, “After a month, on October 9, active cases fell below the 9 lakhs mark and have steadily followed a downward slope since.”

With 2,12,905 active cases, Maharashtra continues to be the worst COVID-19 affected State in India. After Maharashtra, Karnataka with 1,15795 active cases is the worst, followed by Andhra Pradesh (43,983) and Tamil Nadu (43,747.)

Meanwhile, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 8,89,45,107 samples have been tested in the country for COVID-19 till the 12th of October, including 10,73,014 samples tested in the past 24 hours.

With these updates, the recovery rate from the Novel Coronavirus is more than 86% and fatality rate at 1.57 %.
