India’s Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases are growing day by day with a minimum of 1 lakh single day spike. In the past 24 hours, India recorded the highest single day spike of 2021 with 1,26,789 new cases. The cases were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on the morning of the 8th of April.
This is the third time in a day that the single day Coronavirus cases increased by 1,00,000. India reported 1,03,558 cases on April 5 and 1,15,736 infections on the 7th of April.
In addition to the 1,26,789 new cases, India reported 59,258 recoveries and 685 deaths due to COVID-19.
With this, India has 12,928,574 positive cases, of which 9,10,319 are active cases, 11,851,393 are recovered/discharged cases and 1,66,862 deceased. The updated data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
Meanwhile, India’s recovery rate stands at 92.11 %, active case comprises 6.59% and the fatality rate is at 1.30 %.
In addition, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India’s latest positive cases were from 1,237,781 samples tested on the 7th of April, taking the cumulative to 2,52,677,379.
Meanwhile, amid the rising cases of the Novel Coronavirus, nearly 9 crore people got their vaccination doses. The numbers were given by the Union Health Ministry. Despite being the second worst COVID-19 hit Nation, India is the only Country to vaccinate nearly 9 crore people.
According to the Union Health Ministry, senior citizens, people with comorbidities and people above 45 years old are eligible to take the Novel Coronavirus vaccination.
India is administering two made in India vaccines, one is Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN and another one is the Serum Institute of India (SII) manufactured Covisheild.
