On the 12th of October, Johnson & Johnson announced to halt the ongoing Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 vaccine study and trials.

The reason behind the sudden halt is said to be an unexplained illness developed in one of the participants of the ongoing COVID-19 trials.

The halt is said to be temporary and would resume soon.

Jake Sargent, a spokesman for the New Brunswick, New Jersey company, confirmed an earlier report by health care news provider STAT that the study was paused.

In early October, Johnson & Johnson joined the vaccine makers in the experimental vaccine trials for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

The company has since begun dosing up to 60,000 volunteers, marking the first big trial of COVID-19 inoculation.

News of the halt in the vaccine trials came after AstraZeneca Plc temporarily stopped tests of its vaccine after a trial participant fell ill.

That study has resumed in a number of countries but remains halted in the United States of America (U.S.A.,)

However, Johnson & Johnson yet not revealed the illness and other details of the participant affected.

The company said, “important to have all the facts before we share additional information.”

The situation and the illness of the participant is being monitored at their clinic by the safety monitoring board.

Meanwhile, till the 13th of October, 38,040,148 cases of the Novel Coronavirus were recorded globally.

Stay tuned for further updates.
