Concerned over the rising number of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases, the Karnataka Government imposed a 9 days lockdown in the State. 

The lockdown would begin from the morning (8:00 A.M.,) of the 8th of May and would continue till the 16th of May. The decision was taken days after the results of the Kerala Assembly elections were announced.

The P. Vinayan led Kerala Government conducted a meeting and took the decision to contain the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kerala is already witnessing strict lockdown like restrictions and would continue the same with the implemented lockdown. As of now, there is a partial lockdown from 9:00 P.M., till 5:00 A.M., and a complete shutdown on weekends.

Kerala had reported the highest ever single day spurt in positive cases on Wednesday adding 41,953 infections. With this, the State has 25.69 % active caseload, taking the total active cases to 3,75,657.
