Naveen Patnaik Becomes First CM To Take COVID-19 Vaccination

After PM Modi, Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha, took the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 vaccination. 

With this, Mr. Patnaik became the first Indian Chief Minister to take the COVID-19 vaccine in the third phase of the Odisha vaccination drive. On the 1st of March, the second phase of the Nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive started and the third phase of the Odisha Vaccination drive.

In the second phase, Mr. Modi was the first person to take the injection and Naveen Patnaik the second person and the first Chief Minister to take the COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Mr. Patnaik, the 74 year old Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo, was administered the first dose of COVAXIN (developed by the Hyderabad based Bharath Biotech) at the Vidhan Sabha dispensary, Odisha.

After taking the Bharat Biotech manufactured COVAXIN he tweeted, “Happy to share that I took my first dose of #COVID19 vaccine today. Grateful to our scientists, health workers for their race against time to deliver the vaccine to people.” He also said, “Appeal to all eligible people to come forward and get the vaccine for a #COVIDFreeOdisha.”

Across the country, the shots will be given at 10,000 government hospitals and 20,000 private vaccination centers. Around 27 crore people are expected to be covered in the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive.
