On the 7th of October, the United Kingdom (U.K.,) Government finally announced to allow Covishield vaccinated people without mandatory quarantine.

Although the U.K., Government approved Covishield vaccine against the Wuhan virus (COVID-19) to an updated international travel advisory on the 22nd of September, it did not come into effect until now.

The development came after repeated attempts of the Indian Government to get approval from the U.K., Government to allow Indian travelers vaccinated with Covishield without quarantine. In response to this pending matter, the Indian Government also imposed a 10 days mandatory quarantine for people traveling from the U.K.

However, after yesterday’s announcement, individuals who have been fully vaccinated with Covishield across the world are allowed to travel to England, without any quarantine or PCR Test. Initially, the issued advisory for travel to England after being vaccinated with Covishield was supposed to be in effect from the 4th of October, 2021. However, due to some reasons, the new travel advisory with approval of Covishield has been postponed to the 11th of October.

The notice regarding the same was issued by Ms. Alex Ellis, the British High Commissioner to India. She took to Twitter and said, “No quarantine for Indian travellers to the United Kingdom fully vaccinated with Covishield or other UK-approved vaccines from October 11. Thanks to the Indian government for close cooperation over last month.”

In addition, On the 7th of October, Mr. Grant Shapps, the Secretary of State for Transport of Britain, said, “The measures announced today mark the next step as we continue to open up travel and provide stability for passengers and industry while remaining on track to keep travel open for good.”

Formulations of the listed vaccines, such as AstraZeneca, Covishield, Pfizer and Moderna qualified as approved , vaccines.
