PM Modi To Take COVID-19 Vaccination In 2nd Phase Of Vaccination Drive

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to take a shot of the Novel Coronavirus vaccine in the second phase of the ongoing drive.

Besides PM Modi, Chief Ministers of various states are also likely to get the jab in the second phase of vaccination.

With the ongoing first phase of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Central Government is planning to conduct the second phase of the drive.

In the second phase, people above the age of 50 years would get the two India made COVID-19 vaccines.

After the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) approved the two India made vaccines for usage, the Central Government began the drive. The two vaccines are the Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Private Limited’s COVAXIN and the Serum Institute of India’s Covisheild.

Recently, the Government source who wished to be anonymous said, “In the same vein he had said that politicians would get their turn in the second phase when senior citizens were to be vaccinated,” said a government official. “There is nothing new in the plan that was originally thought up.”

The source further added ”The remarks don’t come up with any specific date when the prime minister or chief ministers of various states will be vaccinated.”

As the vaccine campaign progresses however, optics of Mr. Modi getting the jab could go a longer way in soothing vaccine sceptics.

In the vaccine campaign which started from the 16th of January, so far 7,86,000 beneficiaries have been covered.

Speaking of the PM Modi being vaccinated, it is yet to be known, if Mr. Modi would take Covisheild or COVAXIN.

Stay tuned for further updates.
