Telangana COVID-19 Cases Reaches New Hit of 4,500 Cases With 12 Deaths

The Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Telangana.  On the 17th of April, the State reported a new record of more than 4,000 single day spikes of the deadly virus. 

According to the media bulletin released on the night of the 16th of April, Telangana reported 4,446 fresh COVID-19 cases.  This is the highest ever single day spike which took the overall tally to 3.46 lakhs. 

Besides 4,546 new cases, the State reported the highest number of one day deaths in 2021.  The State reported 12 people died from COVID-19 and only 1,414 people recovered from the illness.

With this, the Telangana Health Department confirmed 3,46,331 positive cases, of which 3,11,008 are recovered/discharged cases, 33,514 are active cases and 1,809 are deceased cases. 

Of the total new cases, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 598, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (435) and Rangareddy (326.)  Other districts reporting cases are Nizamabad district, which borders Maharashtra is one of thje worst affected and has recorded 314 new infections while Jagtiyal reported 180 cases followed by 235 in Sangareddy, 160 in Nirmal, 184 in Kamareddy, 168 in Nalgonda, 148 in Khammam, 149 in Karimnagar, 121 in Mancherial, 139 in Mahabubnagar, 136 in Warangal Urban and 111 new COVID-19  infections in Siddipet.

In addition, in the pas 24 hours, the Telangana Health Department conducted more than 1.14 lakh COVID-19 tests.   The  cumulative total of COVID-19 tests stood at 1.14 crores. 

Meanwhile, the recovery rate of Telangana is also decreasing from the previous 95 %.   Now, the recovery rate is at 89.80 % and fatality rate is at 0.52 %.
