A day after recording 1,000 plus cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19, Telangana recorded below 900 cases.

According to the Telangana Health Department’s released media bulletin, in the past 24 hours, the State reported 894 new cases.

Of the total new cases, once again the highest cases were from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) which is 154, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (84) and Rangareddy (70.)

The remaining cases were 54 from Bhadradri Kothagudem, 48 from Nalgonda, 41 from Warangal Urban, 39 from Khammam, 36 from Karimnagar, 32 each from Jagtial and Sangareddy, 28 from Peddapalli, 25 from Yadadri Bhongir, 24 from Mancherial, 22 from Suryapet, 21 from Siddipet, 18 from Warangal Rural, 17 from Jangaon, 16 from Mulugu, 14 from Nizamabad, 12 from Nagarkurnool, 10 from Mahabubnagar, 9 from Adilabad, 8 each from Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jogulamba Gadwal, Narayanpet and Nirmal, 7 from Vikarabad, 5 each from Wanaparthy and Komarambheem Asifabad.

In addition to 894 new cases, the State also recorded 4 deaths and 1,957 recoveries from the Novel Coronavirus.

With these updates, Telangana has 2,61,728 positive cases, of which 12,515 active cases, 2,47,790 recovered/discharged cases and 1,423 deceased.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Health Department confirmed 39,448 tests conducted for the Novel Coronavirus in the past 24 hours. The total tests include 17,357 on primary contacts and 4,733 on secondary contacts.

The numbers of single day tests for COVID-19 is likely to increase from 40,000 to 50,000. Recently on the 19th of November, the Telangana High Court reviewed a petition against the low COVID-19 testing in the State.

The Telangana HC showed disappointment over the State Government and directed them to increase the number of per day tests.

The Telangana HC also warned the State Government regarding the given data. The Court was hearing Public Interest Litigation (PIL) over the low testing for the COVID-19 and the vague data provided by the ruling TRS Government.

The Court said, “Don’t pat yourself. Maharashtra and Kerala have already done one lakh tests per day. It is a horrible job by the state. We have observed that the figure of tests increases a few days before the day these PILs come up for hearing and then there is a downslide.”

The Chief Justice of Telangana, Raghavendra Singh Chauhan said, “This court cannot go begging behind the Telangana government to divulge its disaster management plan. Rather, this court will draw serious adverse inferences against it for not furnishing the plan to control COVID-19.”

However, the Telangana State dismissed the allegations over low testing and said, the State is doing a great job and is better than other states in terms of recovery.

Telangana has a recovery rate of more than 93 % and fatality rate at 0.54 %.

Stay tuned for further updates.
