The Telangana Government on the 9th of June, decided to cancel Intermediate and second year examinations in the State.
On Wednesday, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government and the State Education Department decided to cancel the examinations of class 12th or intermediate examinations for the year 2022. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, conducted a Cabinet meeting and took the decision considering the Wuhan virus second wave, ongoing lockdown, safety of students and the State’s financial situation
It is to be noted, due to the extended lockdown till the 20th of June and the Wuhan virus, Telangana is suffering deficit revenue in 2021. Considering all the factors, the TRS Government decided to cancel class 12th or Intermediate exams in the State.
The Telangana State Board of Intermediate (TSBIE) is likely to issue the official notification regarding the same on the evening of the 9th of June. The State Board is also expected to announce the evaluation criterion of the Telangana class 12 or Intermediate board exam 2021.
Initially, the Intermediate second year examinations were scheduled to be held in May end. However, the exams were postponed. The State Government decided to give a new update about the Intermediate 2nd year exams after a review in the first week of June.
The decision of cancelling the exams would impact over 4 lakh students who were to appear for class 12 board exams in 2021.
Meanwhile, due to the Wuhan virus pandemic, the TRS Government already cancelled class 10th or Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations 2021. In addition, the State Government also announced to promote all students of class 10, based on their internal assessment projects.
Besides Telangana, states like Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra also announced to cancel class 10th and 12th examinations this year.
