Concerned with the rising number of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, the Telangana Government decided to extend the imposed night curfew.   

On the 8th of May, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) issued a notification and extended the night curfew till the 15th of May. This is the second extension to the imposed night curfew, which started on the 20th of April. The first extension was announced on the 30th of April, till the 8th of May. An official statement regarding the same was released by Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Telangana on the night of the 7th of May. He also directed the district collectors, police commissioners and district superintendents of police (DSPs) to strictly implement the orders.

The night curfew would begin from 9:00 P.M., till 5:00 A.M., the next day. All non essential services, cinemas, restaurants, clubs and shops should be closed by 8:00 P.M.

However, essential services like hospitals, labs and chemist shops are exempted from the imposed curfew.

Electronic media, print media, delivery of e goods, gas cylinders, petrol pumps and other services like security providers, power generation providers, water suppliers and sanitation staff would be functional amid the imposed curfew. For events like marriages and funerals, the maximum number of persons to be allowed would be 100 and 20, respectively.

Social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, religious and cultural gatherings are prohibited.

In addition, staff working with the allowed service provider agencies, doctors, medical staff, patients, people travelling to airport/railway stations with valid tickets, government officials and others would be allowed amid the curfew.

The total tally of COVID-19 cases in Telangana is at 4,87,199.  Of the positive cases, 3,62,160 are recoveries, 71,308 are active cases and 2,666 are death cases.  In addition, the recovery rate of Telangana from COVID-19 is 84.81 % and fatality rate is at 0.54 %
