The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government started preparing for the expected third wave of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) 

The third wave of the deadly Wuhan virus is expected in September-October and is said to be dangerous for children.  In regard to this, the Telangana Health Department formed strategies to tackle the third wave of the pandemic. 

As per the directions of K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, the State Health Department, increased the number of beds at hospitals for COVID-19 patients.   The concerned official, the Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, supervising the arrangements directed the responsible medical officials to increase the numbers of children ward, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities, essential medicines and sufficient oxygen supply.

In addition, the TRS Government directed the government district hospital officials to come up with separate wards for the treatment of children.

According to the government data, there are around 40 lakhs children below the age of 5 years in the State. 

Dr. Ramesh Reddy, the Director of Medical Education, said that the Government is well equipped to handle the third wave of COVID-19.   He said that the State Government has formed a committee of expert doctors from the state run Gandhi hospital and Niloufer hospital to oversee any eventualities. 

In addition, they have 1,500 more beds at the Niloufer hospital along with the plan to prepare a paediatric ward in the adjacent MNJ Cancer Hospital.
