Telangana HC Directs Telangana Health Department To Conduct 50,000 Plus COVID-19 Tests

The Telangana High Court on the 19th of November, heard a petition filed against the Telangana Government over the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 situation.

According to sources, the State Court reviewed a petition filed against the low COVID-19 tests.

The Court expressed dissatisfaction over the low COVID-19 and said, “It seemed the Government is intensifying the tests only when a case is being heard in the case.”

In regard to this, the Court directed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government to conduct at least 50,000 tests per day and eventually increase it to one lakh.

The court vented out anger for not properly implementing COVID-19 norms such as using face masks and physical distancing as there are chances of COVID-19 second wave.

The court also reacted on the excessive bills being charged by the private hospitals for COVID-19 treatment and asked the State Government as to what actions have been taken against such hospitals.

The Telangana Court further instructed the officials to make RT-PCT kits available at district hospitals and also asked to conduct the tests directed by the ICMR.

It observed that the Government’s plan in containing the Novel Coronavirus is not appreciative and asked to file a counter by the 24th of November.

The hearing was adjourned to the 26th of November.

Meanwhile, Telangana has 2,60,834 positive cases, of which 2,46,733 are recovered/discharged cases, 12,682 active cases and 1,419 deceased.

Stay tuned for further updates.
