Telangana Reports 157 New COVID-19 Cases Amid Ongoing Vaccination Drive

On the night of the 19th of February, the Telangana Health Department confirmed 157 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

According to the released media bulletin, the State recorded 157 fresh cases, 0 deaths and 157 recoveries in Telangana.

Of the total new cases, highest were from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with 27 positive cases, followed by 15 from Medchal Malkajgiri, 12 from Rangareddy, 9 from Karimnagar, 8 from Warangal Urban, 6 each from Rajanna Sircilla, Sangareddy, Mancherial, 5 each from Bhadradri Kothagudem, Komarambheem Asifabad, 4 each from Adilabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Peddapalli and Vikarabad, 3 each from Jagtial and Mulugu, 2 each from Warangal Rural and Suryapet and 1 each from Komarambheem Asifabad, Nagarkurnool, and Wanaparthy.

Once again, districts like Jangaon, Jogulamba Gadwal, Kamareddy, Nalgonda and Narayanpet reported zero cases of the Novel Coronavirus.

With this, Telangana has 2,97,435. Positive cases, of which 2,94,097 are recovered/discharged cases, 1,623 deceased cases and only active cases.

In addition, between the 18th and the 19th of February, the State Health Department conducted 23,702 sample tests for COVID-19 including 10,428 tests on primary contacts and 2,044 on secondary contacts.

Of the total samples tested, reports of 538 are pending.

Till date, the Telangana Health Department conducted 84,33,333 tests.

Telangana is one of the Indian states with nearly 98% recovery rate and fatality rate below 0.47 %.

Meanwhile, the Nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive is underway in Telangana.

The vaccination drive which started from the 16th of January is in the second phase and giving COVID-19 doses to police personnel.

Meanwhile in India 31.45% of Covishield and 11.75% of COVAXIN stocks have been dispatched for healthcare providers, defence personnel and frontline workers between the 16th of January till the 9th of February. In addition, so far India administered more than 9 million doses of vaccines to people.
