The decline in the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, continued for the 8th consecutive day.

In the past 24 hours, the COVID-19 cases reported in Telangana were below 800 cases. On the 4th of July, the State reported 605 new cases with 7 deaths and 1,088 recovered/discharged cases.

The major decline in the cases is said to be due to the recently imposed lockdown in the State and other precautions taken by the State Government. In addition, the strict surveillance by the State police also played a major role in containing the spread of the Wuhan virus. It has been 14 days since the State Government lifted the lockdown and the situation is said to be under control.

The new cases were confirmed through a health bulletin released to the media on the 4th of July. The State Health Department releases a bulletin every day at 8:00 P.M.

According to the health bulletin released on Sunday, Telangana now has 6,26,690 positive cases, of which 11,964 are active cases, 6,11,035 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,691 are deceased cases.

In addition, according to the bulletin, the Telangana Medical Department conducted 77,800 sample tests for COVID-19, taking the total to 1.90 crores (1,90,66,401) till the 4th of July.

With this, the recovery rate of Telangana improved to 97.50% from the previous 97.37% recovery rate. In addition, the fatality rate of COVID-19 remains stable at 0.58 %.

In addition, the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare in Telangana, released a statement and issued guidelines for the citizens of Telangana for medical treatment.

In its guidelines, the State Health Department urged people to take the necessary precautions and seek medical care in case of any flu like symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, running nose, difficulty in breathing, body pains and headache. The statement in regard to this read, “If symptoms related to COVID-19 are observed, please report to the nearest government health facility and seek the required health services without any delay. People with comorbid conditions are also requested to stay indoors and avoid any kind of travel except for medical care in order to avoid exposure to the virus,”

Meanwhile, compared to the previous 88 containment zones, there are 82 active containment zones in Telangana. Of these, the highest number of containment zones are in Mahabubabad and Hyderabad (20) followed by 19 in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
