For the 8th consecutive day, the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) single day cases were below 1,000. In the past 24 hours, Telangana registered 784 new cases with 5 deaths and 1,028 recovered/discharged cases.

The State is witnessing a decline in the COVID-19 cases since the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) imposed a one month lockdown. The lockdown in the State and other precautions taken by the State Government resulted in a low number of cases. From 20,000 active cases to 11,000 active cases in just a month is due to the cooperation of people and the strict surveillance by the State police.

It has been 16 days since the State Government lifted the lockdown and the situation is said to be under control.

The new cases were confirmed through a health bulletin released to the media on the 6th of July. The State Health Department releases a bulletin every day at 8:00 P.M.

According to the health bulletin released on the 5th of July, Telangana now has 6,28,282 positive cases, of which 11,455 are active cases, 6,13,124 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,703 are deceased cases.

In Telangana, the regions of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the highest number of cases with 88 cases, followed by Nalgonda (71) and Pedapalli (52.)

In addition, according to the bulletin, the Telangana Medical Department conducted 1,05,186 sample tests for COVID-19, taking the total to 1.92 crores (1,92,78,945) till the 7th of July.

With this, the recovery rate of Telangana improved to 97.58% from the previous 97.54% recovery rate. In addition, the fatality rate of COVID-19 remains stable at 0.58 %.

Meanwhile, compared to the previous 60 containment zones, there are 48 active containment zones in Telangana. Of these, the highest number of containment zones are in Mahabubabad (15) followed by 14 in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. There are no containment zones in Hyderabad.
