The schools and educational institutions of Telangana are set to reopen for offline classes from the 1st of September. The decision was taken by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government after considering the current Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus situation in the State. 

On The 23rd of August, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, held a high level meeting to discuss the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and take a final call regarding the reopening of schools and universities. Taking all the reports and conditions into consideration, the TRS Government and the State Education Department decided to reopen all public and private educational institutions including Anganwadi centres in the State.

The high level meeting was held at Pragathi Bhavan, where after a brief discussion, the State Government and Ministers took a decision. State Cabinet ministers like Mr. Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Ms. P Sabitha Indra Reddy, the TRS Parliamentary Party leader Mr. K. Keshava Rao, the Government Chief Advisor Mr. Rajiv Sharma, and the Telangana Chief Secretary Mr. Somesh Kumar, along with other top officials from the Finance, the School and Collegiate Education, the Municipal Administration, the Panchayat Raj and other departments were present during the meeting.

During the meeting, Mr. Chandrashekar Rao directed the Ministers, the officials of Panchayat Raj and Municipal Administration departments to ensure cleaning and sanitisation of all the educational institutions and hostels in Telangana. The cleaning work and Sanitisation work should be completed by the 30th of August. In addition, special care and attention would be given to the children of primary classes, attending the offline classes.

The concerned authorities were directed to ensure every school follows proper protocol and guidelines of the Novel Coronavirus.

It is to be noted, schools and educational institutions have remained shut in Telangana since 2020 March, the first lockdown. Due to the closure of schools for more than 16 months, uncertainty prevailed in the Education system and the future of students’.

With this, from the 1st of September, students of KG to postgraduate would be attending offline classes.
