On the 31st of May, an Uttar Pradesh resident filed a complaint against the Serum Institute of India (SII) Chief Executive Officer (CEO,) Adar Poonawala.

Identified as Pratap Chandra, a resident of Lucknow, U.P., registered a complaint against the SII CEO and alleged even after receiving the SII manufactured Coveshield, a vaccination against the Wuhan virus, he did not develop any antibodies. In his complaint, he said, “I was administered Covishield on April 8, 2021. On May 21, (the) ICMR and the Union Health Ministry had in a press briefing said that after being inoculated with Covishield vaccine, antibodies are produced in the body at a good level. After hearing this, on May 25, 2021, I got an antibody test done from Thyrocare, which is an authorised laboratory. On May 27 the report had come, which was received by me on May 28, 2021. I was shocked and surprised to see a negative antibody in my report.” According to the report, his antibody platelets had gone down to 1.5 lakhs from 3 lakhs.

Besides Adar Poonawala, the complainant mamed Dr. Balram Bhargava, the Head of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR,) the Union Health Ministry Joint Secretary Luv Agarwal, the ICMR National Health Mission Director Aparna Upadhyay in his complaint.

Mr. Pratap Chandra said the SII vaccine against the Wuhan virus also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) to be fraud and said, “I got vaccinated with Covishield, the ICMR said that the antibodies will be produced in sufficient quantity after the first dose itself, but the antibodies were not formed even in minimum quantity. This fraud has happened to me. It is just like a fake protection layer which will not protect against anything.” He further alleged, “As the name suggests, Covishield is supposed to shield us from the virus. Most of the people have already believed that these vaccines are protecting us. So many people died after getting vaccinated K.K. Agarwal, Rohit Sardana. Nobody knows whether antibodies were formed in their body or not. This only implies that we are being injected with water.”

As of now, the Ashiyana Police Station of Lucknow registered a case under section 307 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)

Pratap Chandra said, he would file a case for detailed further investigation of the vaccine, as he believes the matter not only concerns him, but every individual who is relying on these vaccines. As a responsible citizen of India, the matter should be a concern, especially when lakhs of people are fighting the second wave of the Wuhan virus.

As of now, no first information report (FIR) has been filed against the aforementioned people in the matter. However, the complainant demanded a FIR, or else he would move to the court

The SII CEO Adar Poonawala, who is currently in the United Kingdom and the ICMR Head Dr. Balram Bhargava, are yet to respond to the FIR and the allegations.

Stay tuned for further updates.
