On Monday, the Indian Army along with Punjab Police launched a search operation in Pathankot. This operation began after an abandoned bag was found with Army fatigues.

A local resident called the police to inform them about the abandoned bag on Sunday, after which the search operation was initiated in the Mamoon Cantonment in Pathankot. An official said, “We conducted a search operation along with Army officials here to look for any suspicious person.” He added, “Five shirts and two trousers were found in a wheat flour bag at a secluded place near the Defence Road here.”

Three heavily armed terrorists in 2015 dressed in Army fatigues hijacked a car and attacked a police station in Dinanagar of Gurdaspur. Seven were killed including the Superintendent of Police. The terrorists were killed in the counter firing. This incident made the Army wary and have been on a constant look out for such army fatigues so that no such incidents would be repeated again.
