Aamir Khan has always been a choosy actor and recently revealed he gave up a role in the much awaited film 2.0. This is the second part of the hit Rajinikanth film Robot. The direction is by S. Shankar with Rajinikanth in the lead role and Akshay Kumar as the villain.

During an interview, Aamir said, “There’s a film coming Robot, 2.0, I am a big fan of Shankar and I am a big fan of Rajini ji. In fact, Shankar had offered me that film. Super duper Hit hai. It’s a blockbuster film. It’s going to break all records. That’s what I feel.”

The versatile actor was asked if he received the same script to which he said yes. But Aamir revealed something shocking, he was offered Rajnikanth’s role and not the antagonist role.

Aamir Khan said, “Rajini sir himself feeling that he wasn’t well so he told Shankar, please request Aamir. Rajini Sir called me up and said please do the film.(sic.)”

The interviewer, Haricharan Puddipeddi questioned Aamir as to why he rejected a film he’s called a definite blockbuster. The actor genuinely replied, “It’s a superb script and it’s going to do very well but whenever I used to shut my eyes, I used to see Rajini sir in that role. I could not see myself.”

He further added, “I told Shankar, won’t be able to do it. Only Rajini sir can do it. He is irreplaceable. At least I will not be able to do it. I can only imagine Rajini sir in this. See, he had also done the first part, I had seen the first part and I loved it. I am a huge fan of Rajini sir, his whole performance and the way he had created that character had got imprinted in my mind.”

The talented actor went on to explain what makes him choose scripts, “It’s on the basis of my taste as an audience. When you watch a film you are the audience. I am an audience when I read a script or listen to a story. A script which entertains me or makes me laugh or cry and if I can connect to the characters or I get emotionally attached to the script. That’s an emotional response that I want to do this film. Then I don’t think beyond that.”
