On Amrish Puri’s birthday let us take a look at the few Tollywood films our favorite villain starred in during his exceptional career. Mr. Puri was born on the 22nd of June in 1932 in Jalandhar. He is famously known for his portrayal of Mogambo in Mr. India. Amrish Puri passed away after suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage. But his 35 years in the film industry have left a lasting impression on most of us.
Here are the five Tollywood films to which Amrish Puri dedicated his acting skills:
Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari: This 1990 Telugu supernatural fantasy film starred Sridevi and Chiranjeevi in the lead roles. Puri plays Mahadrasta the villainous sorcerer who attempts to kill Sridevi’s character in the film. The movie directed by K. Raghavendra Rao was a major blockbuster breaking all the records made by previous films. Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari collected a whopping $ 90 million in the box office. 
Aakhari Poratam: This 1988 Telugu action film was also directed by Raghavendra Rao and was based on a novel. The movie stars Sridevi as a CBI officer and Akkineni Nagarjuna as a stage artiste. Amrish Puri plays a notorious criminal who Sridevi and Nagarjuna are after. Aakhari Poratam was a box office hit and premiered at the 12th International Film Festival of India.
Aditya 369: This Telugu sci-fi movie was written and directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Mohini and Amrish Puri. As usual, Puri plays a thief attempting to steal diamonds from a museum but his plans are foiled by the protagonists of Aditya 369. Puri’s acting as always is extraordinary and recorded for the world to see.
Major Chandrakanth: This 1993 Telugu patriotic film stars the well known actor and politician N. T. Rama Rao. The film lays the story of a freedom fighter and military soldier driven for justice. Amrish Puri plays an MP who is the main villain in the film. This was another blockbuster and celebrated its silver jubilee.
Kondaveeti Donga: This 1990 Telugu vigilante action film stars none other than superstar Chiranjeevi alongside Vijayashanti. Chiranjeevi plays Robin Hood as he gets justice for the people in his village. Amrish Puri is one of the men who causes distress to the villagers and is brought down by the local Robin Hood.
