On the morning of the 16th of July, Friday, Surekha Sikri, passed away at the age of 75 due to a cardiac arrest.
Surekha Sikri was not doing well after she had a brain injury and a brain stroke in 2018 and 2020, respectively.
She was also prevailing from age related health issues.
Gaining popularity from the TV soap Balika Vadhu, Surekha Sikri worked in Bollywood movies and won three National Awards. She won the National Award for best Supporting Actress for three movies, Badhai Ho (2018,)Tamas (1988) and Mammo (1995.)
The death of Ms. Surekha Sikri was confirmed by her manager through the social media platform Twitter.
Surekha Sikri’s manager said, “Three-time national award winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram.”
Surekha Sikri made her debut in 1978, with the film Kissa Kursi Ka. She worked in the entertainment industry for more than 40 years. She was last seen in director Zoya Akhtar’s short film in Netflix’s Ghost Stories.
After hearing of the sudden demise of Surekha Sikri, many Bollywood and TV actors expressed their condolences on Twitter.
