On the 17th of October, the Bandra Magistrate Metropolitan Court ordered a first information report (FIR) against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel.
The FIR was ordered for the allegations of a complaint on both Ms. Ranaut and Ms. Chandel tried to create a division between communities through social media posts.
Munnawarali Sayyed, a Casting Director recently filed a complaint against Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel for for “trying to create hatred and communal tension” through their tweets.
Mr. Sayyed appealed to the Mumbai Police to file a case against the duo under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.) In addition to this, Munnawarali Sayyed highlighted how tweets of Ms. Rangoli and Ms. Kangana compared Mumbai with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
In the past one of the tweets of Kangana Ranaut compared Mumbai as PoK, which was in the headlines for several days.
A Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also targeted Ms. Ranaut for her tweet for comparing Mumbai and PoK and criticised her.
In regard to this, Jaydeo Khule, Metropolitan Magistrate of the Bandra Magistrate Court said, “On prima facie perusal of complaint and submissions… I found the cognizable offence has been committed by the accused. Total allegations are based upon comment on electronic media — Twitter and interviews. The accused used social media like Twitter. The thorough investigation is necessary by the expert… search and seizure is necessary in this case.”
The Bandra Magistrate Court’s order came at a time when Kangana is engaged in a battle with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for demolishing her office in Mumbai.
The BMC demolished the office of Ms. Ranaut claiming it to be an illegal construction.
As of now, Kangana Ranaut is in her hometown, Manali, Himachal Pradesh.
