On the 9th of April, fans of Rahul Dravid saw the ‘Indiranagar ka Gunda’ in a credit card ad, featuring Cricketer Rahul Dravid.

Indian Premier League’s curtain raiser for the 14th season, CRED featured the former Indian captain Rahul Dravid in an advertisement. The advertisement showed a hilarious “Indiranagar ka Gunda” side of Rahul Dravid.

The ad began with a ‘Cred’ user, played by Jim Sarbh, admitting the benefits of the app may sound “ridiculous, like saying Rahul Dravid has anger issues.” It then cuts away to a manic Dravid in traffic, challenging fellow drivers, throwing coffee, gleefully wrecking rear view mirrors with his bat and standing on the sun roof of his car yelling “Indiranagar ka gunda hoon main.” The advertisement was appreciated and loved for showing a completely opposite side of Rahul Dravid. He was always known for his gentle and calm nature.

The advertisement was not only watched and liked by millions but became stories and posts of several social media platforms. Fans and cricketers took to social media handles of Instagram and Twitter and appreciated and loved the gunda avtar (look) of the cricketer.

Ayappa K.M., who directed the commercial of CRED said, “It was very nice to see the feedback, that somewhere we’ve communicated the dark side of Rahul Dravid that doesn’t even exist!”

The writer of the commercial and comedian Tanmay Bhatt said, “Rahul Dravid is one of the nicest, politest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting… most pleasantly surprising was his incredible curiousity. He asked about punchlines, and delivery, and the science behind writing and directing comedy. (sic)”.

Co writer Vishal Dayama shared an on set photo, with the caption: “took a pic with this legend when he was eating badam from the same packet as ours.”

Yesterday, the 9th of April, besides the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Bengal Challengers (RCB,) it was ‘Rahul Dravid’ and ‘Indira Nagar Ka Gunda ‘that dominated the trends on Twitter. The video is now viral and was seen by more than 3 million times.
