S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, a famous singer , passed away on the 25th of September.
Mr. Balasubrahmanyam, 74 passed away at 1:04 P.M., at MGM Hospital, Chennai.
On the night of the 24th of September, the health conditions of Mr. Balasubrahmanyam started to deteriorate.
A team of experts at the hospital were closely monitoring his health condition and said it to be extremely critical.
Mr. Balasubrahmanyam was hospitalised after testing positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) on the 5th of August.
Mr. Balasubrahmanyam was hospitalised at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorialhealthcare, Chennai.
Mr. Balasubrahmanyam was on life support since a long time, despite being negative for COVID-19.
Mr. Subrahmanyam tested negative for the Novel Coronavirus on the 9th of September.
On the 24th of September, a team of experts released a health bulletin about his conditions and said, “His condition in the last 24 hours has deteriorated further, warranting maximal life support and he is extremely critical.”
Hearing upon S.P. Balasubrahmanyam’s health conditions of Mr. Balasubrahmanyam, actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam President Kamal Haasan visited the hospital on the evening of the 24th of September.
Popularly known as SPB, Balasubrahmanyam made his singing debut in 1966 with Telugu movie Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna.
Mr. Subrahmanyam sang over 40,000 songs in as many as 16 languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
Balasubrahmanyam was also a voice over artist. He was the voice-over artist for actor Kamal Hassan, whenever the latter’s Tamil movies were dubbed in Telugu.
Balasubrahmanyam also acted in a few movies.
Mr. Balasubrahmanyam is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter, both are playback singers.
After the news of his demise broke out, Twitter was flooded with condolence messages from celebrities and fans.
Final rites of S.P. Balasubrahmanyam is scheduled to be held on the 25th of September.
