Bollywood actress turned director Ms. Kangana Ranaut has unveiled the first look as former Prime Minister of India’s late Ms. Indira Gandhi, in her upcoming film Emergency.
On the 14th of July, Thursday, the actress released a 1:21 minute video, which showed Kangana Ranaut adapting the look of Ms. Indira Gandhi, with the same hairstyle and saree. The look gave goosebumps, with a teaser of the Kangana Ranaut-directed Emergency.
The actress, Ms. Kangana Ranaut even talked and showed the same expression on the screen as Indira Gandhi. The latter was one of the most Powerful Women in Indian History of Politics.
Furthermore, Emergency is an upcoming film slated for release in 2023. The movie is based on actual events that unfolded in 1975, when the then Prime Minister of India Ms. Indira Gandhi, called for an emergency.
The film chronicles incidents that took place under the leadership of Ms. Indira Gandhi, the first woman Prime Minister of India.
After dropping the teaser and first look of Emergency, Ms. Kangana Ranaut also announced to commence the shoot of the film, on the 14th of July, Thursday.
Speaking about her role, Ms. Kangana Ranaut said, playing a public figure on the screen is always a challenge because one has to get the look, the characteristics, and the persona right. She added, “I spent a significant amount of time researching the subject and once I felt I had enough ammunition, I commenced on the film’s shoot.”

Meanwhile, set to hit theatres in 2023, Emergency is written by Mr. Ritesh Shah, who also wrote screenplays and dialogues for the Bollywood movie Pink. In addition, Manikarnika Films presentation and Renu Pitti are the film’s producers, Emergency.
