The Moradabad Police, on the 11th of July, visited the residence of Sonakshi Sinha, a Bollywood actress and famous actor turned politician Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter, in Mumbai.
The police visited Ms. Sinha for an enquiry in a cheating case filed against her in February 2019.
According to the registered complaint, Ms. Sinha allegedly charged Rs. 24 lakhs to perform at an event, but did not turn up at the last moment. The event was supposed to take place in September 2018.
Pramod Sharma, the event organiser, filed a complaint with the Moradabad Police Station and a case was registered under Section 406 and Section 420 (Cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)
However, Ms. Sinha’s spokesperson denied the allegations and said, it is a trick to defame her image in the industry. The spokesperson addressed Mumbai Mirror and said, “In her nine years long career, she has only worked with complete honesty and sincerity. What this man is accusing her of is completely untrue and baseless. This is just a way of extortion by maligning her spot free reputation in the press and it is not something that Sonakshi and her team will succumb to. She is a thorough professional and we have been more than cooperative with whichever authorities that have gotten in touch with us because we have nothing to hide.”
With the help of the Juhu Police in Mumbai, the Uttar Pradesh Police team left for Sonakshi’s house to record her statement regarding the case. However, she was not at her place at the time, following which, after a couple of hours, the Police left the place.
The Moradabad Police team is expected to visit her residence again, on the 12th of July.
