Neeraj Pandey’s film Aiyaary has been banned from release in Pakistan. This is the third film of Pandey’s to get banned in the neighboring country. His previous films Baby and Naam Shabana also failed to release.
Director Pandey said, “I don’t think I am a problem. It has to be the film. The theme is very patriotic and doesn’t cut well there. Even M. S. Dhoni was not allowed to be shown in Pakistan.”
Meanwhile, Aiyaary has released in theaters in India today. Initially the movie was to release on the 26th of January but PadMan was releasing the next day. To avoid a clash between the release dates the director postponed the date.
Aiyaary stars Siddarth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee as the lead roles. They portray Army officers in a corrupt system. The Central Board of Film Certification reviewed the film and gave it the green signal. The Ministry of Defense was given a special screening after the film cleared for release.
