The Punjab Governor dismissed the appeal filed against Ali Zafar by Pakistan musician Meesha Shafi. The appeal alleges sexual harassment by the popular singer.
Shafi’s appeal against Zafar was rejected on the 11th of July. A complaint was earlier filed by Shafi under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2010.
Zafar’s legal team was quoted as saying, “Meesha was not compelled in any way to work with Ali. The appeal was dismissed some time ago, around the same time Ali’s debut Pakistani film Teefa in Trouble was releasing. Therefore, we didn’t want the attention of the movie to be diverted.”
Shafi’s legal team will file another appeal on a competent forum. Shafi broke the news of the alleged harassment through a social media post. In her post, the musician added, “conscience does not allow her to be silent anymore.”
Ali Zafar has dismissed the allegations made by Shafi.
