An encounter broke out between the Punjab Police and a gangsters’ group, which claimed the death of Punjabi singer turned politician Sidhu Moose Wala.
On the 20th of July, Wednesday morning, the police gunned down four gangsters, including two who were the shooters of Sidhu Moose Wala, in Hoshiarpur, near Attari village.
Of the four gunned down, two shooters of Sidhu Moose Wala identified as Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kusa and Jagroop Singh Roopa, died in the encounter.
A heavy police force was deployed in the village, the area was cordoned off and the locals were told to stay indoors. A video journalist named Sikander Mattu of a private media channel got injured by the bullet of gangsters.
Addressing the media after the shootout, the Additional Deputy General of Police (ADGP) Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Mr. Pramod Ban said the operation was concluded successfully as both Mannu and Roopa, who killed Moose Wala, were gunned down in the encounter. He said, “Two sharp shooters involved in Moose Wala murder killed in the encounter. Police also recovered an AK-47 and a pistol along with heavy ammunition from the spot. Three policemen have also received minor injuries.”
On the 29th of May, Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by two people, belonging to Goldy Brar gangster group, which claimed responsibility of Sidhu Moosewala’s death.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Mann congratulated the Punjab Cops for the encounter and for shooting down the gangsters.
