Just three days ahead of the release, the makers of Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film Jersey, got a new release date. Scheduled to release on the 14th of April, the movie would now hit the theatres on the 22nd of April.
On the 11th of April, Monday, the producer of the film Mr. Aman Gill took to Twitter and announced, “As a team, we have put our blood sweat and tears into ‘Jersey’ and would like our beloved film to reach all of you in the widest possible way. Jersey will now release on 22nd April.”
This is the fourth time that the release date has been postponed. Initially, the movie was set o be released in August 2021, which was shifted to the 5th of November, due to pending production work. The second release on the 5th of November was shifted to the 31st of December, due to the outbreak of the new variant of the Wuhan virus (COVID-19) Omicron. The third date was the 14th of April, which was again shifted to the 22nd of April.
The fourth time delay in the release of Jersey, is said to be due to the release of the most awaited and expected to be a blockbuster hit KGF: Chapter 2.
The film is directed by Mr. Gowtam Tinnanuri and is a remake of the National Award-winning Telugu film “Jersey.”
The plot of the movie is based on the life of a cricketer who quit playing but starts fresh for his son, with Shahid Kapoor playing the lead character named “Arjun” and actress Mrunal Thakur as “Vidya”. Other prominent actors in the film will include Pankaj Kapur as Madhav Sharma, Ronit Kamra as Karan Talwar aka Kittu, Shishir Sharma as Atul, Geetika Mehandru as Jasleen Shergil, Rudrashish Majumdar as Rudra Juneja and Rituraj Singh.
