Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on the 8th of September, for procuring and consuming drugs.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) which was investigating the drug angles in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case arrested Ms. Chakraborty.
The arrest comes three days after questioning by the NCB.
K.P.S. Malhotra, the Deputy Director of the NCB said, “Rhea has been arrested and due process of informing the family has been completed.” The NCB had questioned her for about eight hours on Monday and six hours on Sunday.
Recently, Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda were arrested and kept under NCB remand.
The arrest was based on three days of questioning, mobile records and chats suggesting about some banned drug consumption.
Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty’s father Indrajit had issued an emotional statement after his son’s arrest. “Congratulations India, you have arrested my son, I’m sure next on the line is my daughter and I don’t know who is next thereafter.”
According to sources, Rhea Chakraborty is likely to undergo a medical test today.
In addition to the NCB, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are also investigating the Sushant Singh Rajput Death case.
Both the ED and the CBI filed a case against actor Rhea Chakraborty in connection to the Sushant death case.
Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on the 14th of June allegedly committed suicide at his Bandra residence in Mumbai.
Initially, the case was being investigated by the Mumbai Police. However, after several petitions in the SC and pressure from social media, the case was handed over to the CBI.
As of now, due to the drugs and money laundering angle, the NCB and the ED also involved in the late actor’s death case investigation.
The investigation is underway.
