Tollywood actor Mr. Siddharth, once again made headlines for his sexist comments againsy badminton player Saina Nehwal.
On the 10th of January, actor reacted to a tweet, posted by Ms. Saina Nehwal, who expressed concern over the safety of Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
After the recent security breach issue during PM Modi’s Punjab visit, Ms. Saina Nehwal said, “No Nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anarchists (sic)”.
Taking a dig at the badminton player, actor Siddharth, who has always been disappointed with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said, “Subtle cock champion of the world… Thank God we have protectors of India. Shame on you #Rihanna.”
Siddharth was attempting to disrespect Saina in a sexist manner by distorting the badminton term ‘shuttlecock.’
The Twitter reaction gained a lot of criticism from netizens, saying it is not a good way to react. In addition, a Shiv Sena leader Ms. Priyanka Chaturvedi took to Twitter and said, “Absolutely unacceptable and unbecoming language to use for anyone. Whatever the disagreement, there has to be civility in discourse (sic).” She further added, “Saina Nehwal is our country’s sporting pride, she has as much right to a political opinion as the rest of the nation. You disagree-you debate, you don’t ever demean even if you are strongly opposed to her thoughts and ideas. This illiberal approach to ‘liberal discourse’ is damaging (sic).”
However, Siddharth reacted to the backlash and said, “COCK & BULL”

The Twitter comments were made over a recent visit of Mr. Narendra Modi to Punjab, where due to security lapses, he had to return.
