Veteran Telugu actor Mr.  Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, popularly known as Krishna passed away on the 15th of November at 4:00 A.M., Tuesday, in Hyderabad, Telangana.

Mr. Krishna, 80 years old, was undergoing treatment at a private super speciality hospital in Hyderabad after he suffered a cardiac arrest.  As per sources, Mr. Krishna, the father of Tollywood star Mahesh Babu suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital.

A team of senior multi disciplinary doctors attended Mr. Krishna and put him on ventilator.

Upon hearing the demise of Mr. Krishna, political leaders like Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Mr. Nara Lokesh, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao and other Telugu political leaders expressed condolences.

Highlighting the career of Mr. Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy:

Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Krishna started his film career in 1964 with his first debut film, Thene Manasulu (1964.)  

Gudachaari 116’ (1966) was his breakthrough film after his debut, Tene ManasuluHe also acted in movies like Mosagallaku Mosagadu (1971,) Pandanti Kapuram (1972,) Devudu Chesina Manushulu (1973,) Alluri Seetharama Raju (1974,) Meena (1974).  These blockbusters established him as a big star in the 1970s. After the release of Alluri Seetarama Raju, he had 14 consecutive flops. 

Krishna made a comeback in 1976 with Paadi Pantalu. Anna Dammula Sawaal, Kumara Raja, and Agent Gopi are some of the other successes in the 1970s he had seen. He had acted in over 350 films and was one of the top actors of his time. 

In the Late 80s, Mr. Krishna’s filmy career went down, and that was the time when he also tried in politics and joined the Indian National Congress.  He became a Member of Parliament (MP) but quit politics after the demise of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, in 1991.

After 1991, Mr. Krishna once again started his filmy journey as an actor, producer and director.  He reinvented himself in the 1990s and bounced back with a series of films like Pachchani Samsaram (1992,) Varasudu (1993,) Number 1 (1994) and Amma Donga (1995.)  

The last film of Mr. Krishna as an actor was released in 2016, Sri Sri.

 He was also a successful director and producer and was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2009.
