After Tollywood actress Sri Reddy attacked Pawan Kalyan, the power star’s fans began threatening to rape the actress. Ms. Reddy has been protesting against sexual exploitation of women in the Telugu industry.
The actress warned Kalyan of legal action if his fans continued to troll her. Sri Reddy was quoted saying, “You, Pawan Kalyan, who is thrice married and has (sic) no respect for women, how dare you give us suggestions on what to do… I once called you anna (brother,) but I take that back today. From now on, no woman will call you ‘anna.’”
The actress further added, “If he can’t stop them, I will take legal action against him, and not his fans. His fans have been abusing me on Facebook and Twitter and his silence is encouraging them.”
These comments come after Pawan Kalyan commented about the recent protest staged by the actress. Kalyan was asked about Sri Reddy’s recent sexual allegations to which he said, “If they want justice, they should go to (the) police stations and the courts, not T.V., stations.”
He further added, “It is of no use if she keeps talking on the television channels instead of fighting her case in courts. Media can only deliver a message. Only the government wings can give her justice.”
Sri Reddy held a protest outside the office of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce on the 7th of April. She sat shirtless outside the Chamber protesting the casting couch which is a euphemism for sexual harassment. The actress attempted to pass on the message of the seriousness of the casting couch in the Tollywood industry.
