Veteran film director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

On the 16th of September Mr. Rao through his Facebook post confirmed being COVID-19 positive.

According to sources, Srinivasa Rao tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus on the 9th of September.

He was under home quarantine since the 9th of September after expert medical advice from a doctor.

Singeetam Srinivasa Rao on his official Facebook handle posted a video message.

In the long video, he said he has a mild case of COVID-19 and his two week quarantine period is scheduled to end on the 22nd of September.

In the video, Singeetam Srinivasa Rao said a lot of press people were calling him to celebrate his birthday, which is on the 21st of September.

However, due to his health conditions and quarantine, he was unable to pick up their calls.

Singeetam Srinivasa Rao said he has been isolated in a separate room in his house.

Speaking about his experience during the quarantine phase, Mr. Rao said, his family members offer him food by keeping it at the doorstep of his room and stay at a social distance.

Highlighting his activities during the quarantine, Srinivasa Rao said he is trying to keep himself busy by scripting stories and doing other works.

Mr. Rao also spoke about the seriousness of the deadly infection and asked people to take precautions. He said, the Novel Coronavirus is a serious disease and that everyone should follow COVID-19 protocols like wearing a face mask, sanitising hands and maintaining social distancing.

Singeetam Srinivasa Rao directed several films like Aditya 369, Akasa Veedhilo, Son of Aladdin and others.

Mr. Rao who worked in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Hindi films started his Telugu film career as a writer and director with his debut film Neethi Nijayaithi (1972.)

The last film directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao is Welcome Obama, which is the Telugu remake of the Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy.

Mr. Rao was last seen in a cameo role in Varun Tej’s Kanche in 2015.
