Vidya Balan, a Bollywood actress, on a show, shared her view about playing the role of late Sridevi, a legendary actress, in a biopic based on the latter’s life, if given a chance.
Called as a guest on Komal Nahta’s Starry Nights 2. Oh!, Ms. Balan was asked if she would take up the project to play the role of Sridevi. In response, Vidya Balan said, it needs a lot of guts to portray Sridevi, but as a tribute, she would take up the role.
Recently, Vidya Balan paid a tribute to Sridevi by performing a recreation of Sridevi’s iconic song, Hawa Hawai, in her movie Tumhari Sulu.
On a different occasion, Balan, with regard to the recreation of Hawa Hawai, had said, “I am an ardent fan of Sridevi, I was nervous (while doing the film,) but having said that we are recreating the song Hawa Hawai from Mr. India. It is a tribute to her, we are having fun. There is only one Sridevi.”
Hawa Hawai was originally performed by Sridevi in one of her films, Mr. India.
Vidya Balan is one of the most talented actresses of B Town. She starred in biographical films such as The Dirty Picture.
In The Dirty Picture, Ms. Balan portrayed the famous South Indian actress, Silk Smitha. Released in the year 2011, The Dirty Picture, which essayed the life of Silk Smitha, was a huge hit at the box office.
The other movies in which Vidya Balan starred are Ishqiya, Heyy Babyy and Parineeta.
Vidya Balan is known for her strong and bold characters in Bollywood movies. Ms. Balan started her career by being a part of a TV show, Hum Paanch. She later entered Bollywood and with her bold roles, she changed how actresses were perceived.
The biopic about Sridevi’s life is still in the pipeline and no details about it have been revealed yet.
