Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer Liger was released in theatres on the 25th of August. The most anticipated Tollywood movie did not do well at the box office and recorded only Rs. 20 crores on its first day of collection.
Despite massive promotional campaigns all across India, Vijay’s Hindi debut film was said to have disappointed the audience and expectations of makers. Many fans and supporters are cursing the Bollywood box office curse, which is a major reason for the flop. Another reason for Liger not doing well is the recent statement of Tollywood actor Vijay Deverakonda supporting Aamir Khan’s recent release Laal Singh Chaddha, which failed at the box office terribly, due to the boycott trend.
In addition, for Liger, the film opened to largely negative reviews, even starting meme trends, leading to a major fizzle for the film.
The film Liger got a very wide release in Hindi today after preview shows last night where the film collected Rs. 1.5 crores only. In the southern market, where Tollywood movies cross Rs. 100 crores on the first day, it managed only Rs. 20 to Rs. 25 crores.
Directed by Mr. Puri Jagannadh, Liger was released in theatres on the 25th of August.
