On Tuesday, the Reserve Bank of India announced new one rupee notes with a multi colored look will be soon put into circulation.

“The Reserve Bank of India will soon put into circulation currency notes in one rupee denomination,” a RBI release in Mumbai said.

“The Government of India has printed the notes. The existing currency notes in this denomination in circulation will also continue to be a legal tender,” it said.

“The color of One Rupee currency note shall be predominantly pink green on the obverse and reverse in combination with others,” it added.

The central bank said that it will bear the signature of Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das, elaborating on the design of the new one rupee note.

“The numbering shall be in the black at right hand bottom portion of the note,” it said.

The year ‘2017’ is mentioned on the reverse side.

Further, it added, “There is also a representation of One Rupee coin with rupee symbol having a floral design, and the surrounding design consists of the picture of Sagar Samrat the oil exploration platform.”

Earlier, on November 8, following the Demonetization move announced by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, the RBI had introduced Rs. 500 and Rs. 2,000 notes with a new design.

The Rs. 500 notes are called the Mahatma Gandhi series. The Rs. 2,000 notes have pictures of the Mahatma Gandhi and the Mangalyaan on it.
