7.8 magnitude earthquake hits Tokyo

Tokyo: A powerful earthquake measuring 7.8 on Richter scale jolted Tokyo on Saturday. The quake shook the buildings for around a minute at around 8.30 pm (1130 GMT). However, no tsunami warning has been issued. The earthquake striked 194 km off Japan’s Bonin Islands.

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake approximately 874 kilometres (543 miles) from Tokyo in the Pacific Ocean, according to US Geological Survey.

Mild tremors were also felt in Delhi’s NCR region and other parts of the India, according to reports.
