A monitoring group reported 42 civilians had died after a U.S., led coalition air strikes were fired in Raqqa. The strikes hit the densely populated areas of the Islamic State.

The Britain based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported 19 children and 12 women were among the dead.

Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently, is an activist group in Raqqa reported that nearly 32 people were killed in air strikes in just one of the neighborhoods.

A Syrian state media group said the air strikes killed dozens. The news varied among the masses but one thing in common was all of them blamed the U.S., led coalition.

The Islamic State is taking heavy losses in Syria as the Kurdish and Arab militias with the U.S., led coalition have managed to capture territories in the North of the Islamic State.

The U.S. Special Envoy to the coalition against the Daesh, Brett McGurk addressed the issue and reported that 2,000 IS fighters remain in Raqqa and that the coalition has managed to retake 60% of the city.

In 2014, it was estimated that IS had 40,000 foreign fighters from 110 countries in Syria and Iraq. But since then, Daesh have lost 78% of their territory in Iraq and 58% of their territory in Syria.
