Goutam Sawang, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) on the 29th of June, suspended T. Radhesh Murali, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Ongole district, AP.

Rajni, the Regional Vigilance Officer of Ongole, conducted a raid at the places where gutka packets were stored in the areas of Anjaiah Road and Nirmal Nagar, Ongole. However, when the matter was reported, the Police officials denied to file any case and take any action against the storage of gutka.

Later, Rajni submitted a report to Siddharth Kaushal, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Ongole, complaining about the whole matter, following which, Sawang issued the suspension orders.

Balasundar Rao replaced Radhesh Murali as the new DSP of Ongole.

Apart from Radhesh Murali, DGP Sawang also transferred Upputuri Nagaraju, the DSP of Chirala.

The AP Government also took action against the negligence of the police officers over the death of Padma, an activist of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) during a clash between the TDP and the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) workers at Rudramambapuram in Chirala.

Goutam Sawang issued orders to Upputuri and asked him to report to the police headquarters of AP.

On the night of the 28th of June, Siddharth Kaushal issued the transfer orders of approximately 54 sub inspectors (SIs.)
