Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan admitted he placed bets on the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. The 50 year old actor confessed to Maharashtra’s Thane Police that he placed bets this year as well.
Yesterday the Thane Police summoned the actor due to the betting scam. Salman Khan’s brother was sent a summons on Friday afternoon.
The police were investigating into a high profile bookie Sonu Jalan. Arbaaz Khan’s name cropped up in the investigation and he will need to record a statement.
The Anti Extortion Cell in the Thane Crime Branch arrested one of the biggest bookies in India. This bookie is allegedly linked to the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
Jalan was arrested for providing betting software to 5 bookies who were arrested.
Police Inspector Rajkumar Kotmire said, “His software called ‘Bet and Take’ is quite famous among bookies and is used by them in India and internationally as well.”
He further added, “His arrest is big, as it will help us unearth the national and international network of bookies.”
According to media, Jalan is linked to many other celebrities and Arbaaz Khan is the first of many.
