The Bharatiya Janata Party led Government of India (GoI,) on the 26th of June, appointed Arvind Kumar as the new Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director.

Arvind Kumar, an Indian Public Service (IPS) officer of the 1984 batch of the Assam and Meghalaya cadre, is one of the best IPS officers, who is an expert in issues related to Jammu and Kashmir.

The Narendra Modi led Government also appointed Samant Goel as the Research and Analysis Wing Chief.

Samant Goel, an IPS officer of the 1984 batch of the Punjab cadre, was appointed as the Research and Analysis Wing Chief after considering his performance during the air strike in Balakot on the 26th of February.

The Appointment Committee of India, which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appointed Arvind Kumar and Samant Goel.

Arvind Kumar and Samant Goel replaced Rajiv Jain and Anil Dhamsana as the IB Director and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Chief respectively.

A senior official at the Prime Minister’s office (PMO) said, “The Home Minister has signed the file and it has gone to PMO.”

Both, Arvind and Samant will start their respective tenure on the 30th of June.
