Suprabhat Batyabyal, a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader of West Bengal, along with 2 other BJP leaders, on the 17th of February, were arrested in Birbhum, West Bengal.

Suprabhat and the other BJP leaders are the main suspects in Suprabath’s daughter’s kidnapping case.

On the 14th of February, Suprabhat’s 22 year old daughter was kidnapped from their residence at Birbhum district, West Bengal. A few goons entered the house and allegedly kidnapped her at gunpoint.

The family of the girl filed a complaint at the Labhpur Police Station, following which they started a search operation. The police, on the 17th of February, rescued the girl from the Uttar Dinajpur district. The Labhpur Police and the Uttar Dinajpur Police, in a joint operation, traced the girl’s location, the Dalkhola Railway Station, and rescued her.

According to a police official, as per the initial investigation, Suprabhat and two BJP leaders are involved in the girl’s kidnapping.

Shyam Singh, the Superintendent of the Labhpur Police, said, “We have rescued the girl from Dalkhola this morning. She is fine and we are talking to her to find out what had actually happened. We have also arrested the girl’s father who seems to have played an important role in the kidnapping.”

Superintendent Singh suspects the reason behind the kidnapping to be a family problem or gaining political mileage ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

However, the BJP leaders accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to be behind the kidnapping.

The police are interrogating the three suspects and an investigation for the same is underway.

Stay tuned for further updates.
