Bollywood Icon Kader Khan Passes Away

Bollywood icon Kader Khan, a veteran comedian, actor and writer of the industry, passed away, on Monday, around 6:00 P.M., in Canada. The demise of Mr. Khan was confirmed, yesterday, by Sarfaraz Khan, his son.

Sarfaraz Khan said, “My dad has left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness. He slipped into coma in the afternoon. He was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks. The last rites will be performed here in Canada only. We have our entire family here and we live here so we are doing it.”

The 81 year old actor suffered from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (a rare brain disorder which leads to dementia and issues related to walking and maintaining body balance.) He was admitted in a Canadian hospital and was on BiPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure) ventilator.

Born in Kabul in the year 1937, Kader Khan was a renowned Indian Canadian Bollywood actor, comedian, dialogue writer and director. He entered the world of films with his debut film Daag (1973) featuring Rajesh Khanna.

Mr. Khan wrote dialogues for as many as 250 movies, out of which, some of the best remembered movies till date are Amar Akbar Anthony (1977,) Mr. Natwarlal (1979,) Khoon Pasina (1977) and Agneepath (1990.)

The iconic actor was known his amazing pairing with actors like Govinda, Jitendra and Amitabh Bachchan in movies such as Coolie No. 1 (1995,) Himmatwala (1983,) Parvarish (1977.)

Kader Khan’s journey in Bollywood includes super hit movies such as Suhag (1994,) Dulhe Raja (1998,) Baap Numberi Beta Dus Numberi (1990,) Umar 55 Ki Dil Bachpan Ka (1992,) Judaai (1997) and Joru ka Ghulam (2000.)

Bollywood celebrities, directors and fans of Mr. Khan mourned his demise on social media platforms and conveyed their condolences to Kader Khan’s family.
