CCTV footage captured two men dragging a woman down a not so empty road. The two men were seen grabbing the woman’s hands and taking her down the street. The camera caught the two bikes riding closely behind the woman and two men. Once the group moves out of the CCTV footage frame, you can see another man running in the same direction. This happened with bright streetlights on the road and a number of people passing by and not caring to raise an alarm.

The Amberpet police received a complaint of Monday night from K. Srinivas. The man was upset and scared after his wife was abducted by the three men in the video. K. Srinivas is seen chasing them down but unfortunately not catching up.

Four years ago, K. Srinivas and his wife borrowed money from a money lender, almost Rs. 4 lakhs. The couple had financial difficulties and weren’t able to pay back the last 1 lakh of the total amount. The money lender was frustrated and wanted his money back. He continuously visited the couple’s home but his money was still not returned.

His frustration turned to rage and the next time he visited the couple’s home he brought company. Accompanying him were his friends, Sai Ram, Raju, Venkat, Swaroop and the money lender’s minor son.

Inspector Anand Kumar spoke to a news channel and said, “M. Srinivas used to visit the victim’s house frequently. However, on Monday, he visited the victim’s house along with the other accused. When he did not get his money back, he said that the victim will remain in his custody till her husband pays him the money back.”

The police tracked the car that was used to abduct the woman with the help of CCTV footage. Thereafter, the police passed the car registration to different toll points in the city. Acting on a tip off on Tuesday, the police arrested three of the accused. The accused arrested have been identified as M. Srinivas, Sai Ram, and Raju. The were caught at Taranaka, Hyderabad and the woman was rescued. Three of the men involved have absconded.

ACP Sudhakar reported, “There were people on the road. She said she shouted, but no one came to help.”

A case has been registered against the accused under the Indian Penal Code, sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt,) 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty,) 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation.)

The inspector also added, “The victim sustained some injuries while they dragged her on the road. They also slapped and beat her up.”
