A Delhi Court on the 30th of May, extended protection from arrest for P. Chidambaram, the former Finance Minister and his son, Karti Chidambaram.

O.P. Saini, a special judge from the Delhi Court extended the protection from arrest until the 1st of August with regards to the Aircel Maxis money laundering case.

The decision was taken after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought three weeks to argue on the anticipatory bail appeal made by Chidambaram, as the Chief of the ED is in Singapore at the moment.
Though the ED said they have bank account details and other documents of the accused and are probing in the money laundering case, the Delhi Court granted the protection.

Previously, a Delhi Court extended protection to Karti Chidambaram and P. Chidambaram from arrest till the 30th of May.

Karti Chidambaram and his father P. Chidambaram are facing charges of money laundering Rs. 305 crores, related to a foreign media company, INX Media.

The ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are investigating the case since 2015 and the investigation is still going on.

Stay tuned for further updates.
