In a disturbing incident a man in Delhi killed a six year old boy after keeping him tied up in a storage box of his bed. The initial plan was to kidnap the boy and demand a ransom from the parents. But the man was unable to execute his plan and instead strangled the boy to death.

The police arrested Rohit Prasad on Friday morning and questioned him. He first revealed that the boy was staring at his wife while she bathed and killed him in a fit of rage.

The body was discovered when neighbors broke into Rohit’s house after getting a rotten smell of the corpse.

DCP of the South East side, Romil Baaniya reported, “He misled police the entire day and finally accepted that he had kidnapped the child to seek a ransom of Rs 20,000 from his parents.”

The DCP further added, “He made up the ogling story thinking it would get him off with a lighter punishment.”

On Wednesday, the boy went missing at around 4 P.M., while playing with friends. A search party with neighbors, family members of the boy and the police was taken out. Prasad took part in the search as well to avoid suspicion.

Radha, a neighbor who was among the people who found the body said, “The stench appeared to be from the storage box of the bed in the room. We got it opened and a plastic sack immediately sprang out. The missing boy’s face and hand were popping out of the sack. His mouth was tied with a black cloth.”

Prasad later confessed to keeping the boy tied up in the storage box for 24 to 36 hours before strangling him to death. A case has been filed and Prasad will appear in court soon.
